Caring Work: What’s been happening the past six months?

In June of 2022, we released Caring Occupations: Supporting Waterloo Wellington Dufferin. This is our update to those statistics around supply and demand. The news that was difficult back in April doesn’t seem to be shifting too much. There is still record low provincial unemployment for these occupational categories and growing job posting demand. In most families, the inability to find people to care for our young, elderly and vulnerable could have devastating effects on the ability of women in all sectors to continue with employment – troubling news in a time of cross-sectoral labour and talent shortages.
