The Drive Forward Program 2021- Success Story

Think back to when you were first getting your driver’s licence and heading off on your road test. Were you nervous? Now add on a tractor-trailer. It is not an easy test!

In response to a shortage of truck drivers in our local labour market, the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin launched an AZ Truck Driver training program in partnerships with the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada. It is based upon a successful model in Atlantic Canada run by the Trucking HR Sector Council Atlantic.

In our first year, we saw 31 people start the Drive Forward program, and 28 complete training. And that road test? We are proud to announce that 25 participants have successfully achieved their AZ licence!


EmployerONE Survey 2022 is now OPEN!

Each year the annual EmployerOne Survey conducted by the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin allows businesses to share important information about hiring challenges and specific workforce needs. The survey is open now until January 31st. The average completion time is approximately 15 minutes.
