Defining Soft Skills

In EmployerOne 2022, employers told us that a lack of the right soft skills was a major reason that positions were hard-to-fill. To tackle this gap, this project will survey employers in the Construction, Manufacturing and Retail sectors to identify:

  • Which soft skills are the biggest priority for entry-level roles in their industry?
  • What do employers actually mean when they talk about these skills?

Resources will be created for Employment Ontario staff  so that they can better support jobseekers through skills programming, and better application packages that reflect these skills.

This is a partnership project between Project READ and the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin.
